Global Medical Care Without Profit
My Journey during the past decade
In 2010, I was honored to be named a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar of the Rotary Foundation, representing Rotary District 5050 in Canada and traveling to Rotary District 9350 in South Africa. There, I pursued my Master’s degree and founded Peace and Love International, a registered Camadian charity dedicated to empowering at-risk children in Cape Town’s slums. My thesis focused on the intersection of drugs, gangs, police corruption, and violence—a subject I became intimately familiar with during my time in South Africa, where I witnessed unimaginable suffering and loss.
My Action Plan
Determined to be more than just a bystander to such trauma, I realized I needed to learn how to be effective in high-stakes, resource-poor settings. I chose Cuba, where I spent seven years in medical school, training in emergency and trauma care, including performing major amputations in preparation for the war zones I aim to serve. I graduated in July 2024 and, with the support of Rotarians, I now lead various medical initiatives in Cuba, from providing medicine and hospital equipment to running spay and neuter clinics for street animals.
A Collective Effort
Thanks to the generosity of friends in Rotary World Help, we’ve already imported nearly $2 million in hospital equipment to Cuba, with more shipments on the way. My commitment to service has led me to work as a volunteer doctor, and in 2025 returned to Africa to continue providing free medical support in underserved communities, expanding my Rotary-backed initiatives to reach even more vulnerable populations.
